About Me

My name is Chi Kan Wong. I graduated from Community, Environment & Planning (CEP) and with a minor of Urban Design and Planning at the University of Washington, Seattle. I am an international student who came from Hong Kong. Hong Kong, a city well known for its dense population and size. Given these unique features, land use planning and development has always been important in Hong Kong. The fact that Hong Kong is short of land has created problems for its development and growing population. Hong Kong is always in need of space for commercial and residential buildings. I have witnessed many people who spend their whole life working to afford some tiny apartment. When I read the newspaper, the issues about urban development are always on the headlines. This news is not only alarming but has instilled in me a great interest in urban planning.

Apart from studying, I am really active in volunteering. Homelessness is a issue and a widespread phenomenon that we always concerned about which made me interested about the issue.I volunteered in the Homeless World Cup Fundraising and Selection Tournament in Hong Kong for 3 years. I'm active in participating the homeless outreach in different organizations in Seattle. It is a great opportunity to understand and keep in touch of the homeless population in Seattle.
